Sophisticated electronic controls and flexible calibrations so you can custom-tailor your engine's performance to its equipment, work environment and job demands.  The standard features of an integrated water pump, lube pump and cooler housings with metric O-ring fittings eliminate potential leak points for increased reliability.

The QST30 is an excellent choice for every mining application - whether installed in new equipment or upgrading an engine in an existing machine.  With ratings from 760-1200 hp (567-895 kW), it produces up to 25% more power and torque, with better fuel economy and longer service intervals than the typical engine it replaces.

Cummins QST30 for Emissions-Regulated Mining Applications

The QST30 has ratings available to meet every emissions regulation worldwide including EPA Tier 2.  Modifications to the base QST30 engine to meet legislated Tier 2/Stage II emissions levels for both U.S. and European regulations include an upgraded turbocharger and intake system, as well as a modified fuel spray pattern and a re-contoured piston bowl. These changes provide better combustion with fewer emissions, while maintaining the structural integrity, reliability and durability that have won the QST30 its hard-earned reputation for low cost-of-operation and exceptional life cycle value. Its enhanced fuel economy and long service intervals make it an excellent choice for repowers, especially when cost and productivity are taken into consideration.

A field-proven, fully-sealed wiring harness with fail-safe connectors integrates the ECM with the engine sensors for optimized engine performance, monitoring and protection.  Quantum system technology is ideal for tough mining applications that demand continuous uptime carrying hundreds of tons capacity.
  • One-Piece Ferrous Cast Ductile Iron Pistons - Provide the strength and durability to handle high cylinder pressures for longer life.
  • Advanced Valve Metallurgy - Chrome plating on valve stem and nitro-sulphurizing treatment on the entire valve surface provide additional durability.
  • Swirl-Port Cylinder Heads - Optimize durability and combustion sealing.  Advanced airflow improves fuel economy, low-end torque performance and emissions capability.
  • Prelub™ System - Distributes oil to rifles and friction surfaces and builds oil pressure before cranking can occur.  A pressure switch assures proper oil pressure in the main rifle to reduce the risk of starting the engine without oil in the sump or filters.  Prelub is a standard option on all mining engines due to proven success in extending engine life-to-rebuild.
  • Two-Stage Cummins Oil Filter - Combines full-flow and bypass filtration to effectively remove harmful sludge and up to three times as many contaminants to reduce engine wear.
  • Premium Fan Drive – Incorporates large matched and sealed bearings, improved oil seals, and an improved idler system.  The fan drives have fixed fan centers with tensioning provided by a manually adjusted and maintenance free idler.  The fan drive is available with or without an electronically controlled oil-actuated fan clutch.
