In heavy loaded applications, drivers will not notice any change to their normal acceleration behavior. When VAM is properly set up, VAM will not interfere with the acceleration of the vehicle in heavily loaded conditions. However, in lightly loaded, bobtail, or diminishing load applications, the driver will experience a limited rate of acceleration when VAM is enabled. Therefore, please inform and set driver expectations when setting VAM.
VAM enables drivers to achieve target road speeds with launch events that have a more constant acceleration. The baseline curve shows a driver who has to adjust his or her rate of acceleration, whereas the red 'VAM Enabled' curve shows a more constant acceleration rate.
