INLINE 6 and INLINE 5 Hardware

What should I do if my INLINE 6 or INLINE 5 adapter's power light is off?

This indicates that the adapter is probably not receiving power. Verify that the data link cable is securely connected to both the adapter and the data link connector and that there are no bent pins in the connectors.

What does it mean if the power light of my INLINE 6 is red or the power light of my INLINE 5 blinking on and off?

This indicates that the adapter's power voltage is out of its normal operating range. Make sure that the power source voltage is connected and in the normal 8 V to 50 V range.

What does it mean if one of the INLINE 6 communication port lights is red or one of the INLINE 5 communication port lights is blinking on and off slowly?

This indicates that the adapter has not established proper communications over the communication port. When the adapter is properly communicating over a port, the associated light should blink on and off rapidly (green in the case of the INLINE 6). Make sure your computer or data link is connected and working properly.

What should I do if all the adapter lights stay on continuously?

This indicates that the adapter has experienced a failure or the memory was corrupted while trying to download new firmware to the adapter. Try removing power and reapplying it, waiting for several seconds to see if the adapter resumes normal operation. If it doesn't, try downloading the latest software, carefully following instructions on the INLINE 6 software download web page or the INLINE 5 software download web page. If this also fails to work and the adapter is still under warranty, contact your authorized Cummins distributor.

Software

Why doesn't my INLINE 6 or INLINE 5 adapter work with INSITE version 5.4 or other older Cummins software applications?

Versions of INSITE earlier than 6.3 may not be RP1210 compatible. Since the INLINE 6 and INLINE 5 adapters use the RP1210 protocol, they will only work with software that supports the RP1210 protocol. Visit the Compatibility pages on this site to determine what versions of Cummins software applications are compatible with RP1210 and the INLINE 6 and INLINE 5 adapters.

What Windows operating systems software will the PC driver for the INLINE 6 and INLINE 6 adapters support?

The INLINE 6 and INLINE 5 PC drivers support Windows™ 7, Vista, and XP.

Will the INLINE 6 and INLINE 5 adapters work with my QuickCheck III software?

The INLINE 6 and INLINE 5 adapters will not work with the QuickCheck III software.

Will the INLINE 6 and INLINE 5 adapters work with non-Cummins RP1210-compatible software applications?

As long as these non-Cummins software applications are truly RP1210-compliant, the Cummins INLINE 6 and INLINE 5 adapters will work with them. However, some non-Cummins applications have proprietary features that make them not fully compliant with the RP1210 standard and they will not work properly with the INLINE 6 and INLINE 5 adapters. Test the application with an INLINE 6 or INLINE 5 adapter to verify compatibility.
