Darlington, UK (March 3, 2008) - Cummins has been selected to provide QSL engines to Kässbohrer Geländefahrzeug AG. The Darlington, UK built Cummins QSL will take their brand new PistenBully 400 ski-slope grooming machine to new heights.

With a power rating of 370 hp (275 kW), the Cummins QSL is built to deliver high performance even at altitudes above 3000 m (10,000 ft) where the PistenBully 400 will be operating. The 9-litre engine's compact size and optimum power to weight ratio makes it ideal for this agile ski-slope grooming machine.

Hendrik Dobberthien, Cummins Industrial Account Leader, commented, "Cummins are pleased to work with the leading manufacturer in this market. Kässbohrer were looking for a highly reliable and durable engine in a compact envelope and Cummins QSL engine met all their requirements in full. Plus, with Cummins global distribution network, Kässbohrer customers can be assured of getting timely support anywhere in the world".

The Cummins QSL meets Tier 3/Stage IIIA emissions standards with an in-cylinder solution. Plus, the 6-cylinder engine runs quiet for increased operator comfort. With a cold start capability of up to -20°C, the Cummins QSL makes it a good match for the PistenBully 400 which will be operating in some of the coldest climates of the world including the Alpine region, Scandinavia, and the Rocky Mountains, North America.

Minimum engine maintenance is important not only to Cummins but also to Kässbohrer. With that in mind, the Cummins QSL is designed to run up to 500 hours between scheduled oil and fuel filter changes. Also, 5,000 hour overhead valve set checks are beyond industry standard intervals.

The all new Cummins powered PistenBully 400 has already been unveiled in the German Alps in February 2008 and it has generated a lot of interest. The new vehicle is expected to go on tour in other parts of the world such as Switzerland, Austria, France, and Italy as well as Scandinavia, East Europe, Japan and the United States.
