CHARLESTON, S.C. (Aug. 18, 2014) – Cummins Inc. (CMI:NYSE) announced today the availability of its U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Tier 3-certified QSB6.7 marine engine as a reliable 30-knots-propulsion solution for the 2014 Motor Boat Award-winning Princess 43. Already using a Cummins Onan® generator for electrical power, the Princess 43 is now offered with twin Cummins QSB6.7 engines for its shaft-drive propulsion.
“Cummins is pleased to deliver propulsion engines to such a well-known and trusted boat builder as Princess,” said Michel Kozulic, Sales Leader – Cummins Recreational and Light Commercial Marine for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. “The state-of-the-art 43 Fly by Princess Yachts and our Cummins QSB6.7 engines make a quiet, powerful and dependable package.”
“We are very pleased to add this powerful and efficient Cummins engine package to the Princess 43, and we look forward to good customer support programs from Cummins going forward,” said Chris Gates, Managing Director – Princess Yachts International.
The Princess 43 required minimal adaptation in order to integrate the Cummins propulsion system. The engines provide a true 30-knots level of performance when fully loaded, delivering fast cruising speeds and uncompromised performance and efficiency in the 20- to 26-knots range. With power available across a wide rpm range, vessel acceleration has improved to achieve 30 knots in less than 20 seconds.
Cummins produces around 500,000 6.7-liter B-series engines annually for use around the globe in many on- and off-highway applications. The marine version has the highest power density, producing up to 550 hp and 1250 ft-lb of torque, and meets the most stringent marine emissions regulations in the world – EPA Tier 3. The QSB6.7 offers more torque, better performance, improved acceleration, reduced noise and reduced vibration over Cummins well-regarded QSB5.9 engine, all without sacrificing fuel economy.
The QSB6.7 engine is supported by Cummins 6-year/3,000-hour limited warranty, providing coverage for parts, labor, technician travel, Cummins Captain’s Briefing program, which includes an orientation on how to run and maintain Cummins equipment, and Cummins Care concierge service providing around-the-clock aftersale support to worldwide boaters.
Ordering both the Cummins Onan generator and Cummins QSB6.7 propulsion engines in the Princess 43 provides customers with a common support network for both the engines and the generator.
