CALGARY, Alberta (June 8, 2004) - Cummins Inc. (NYSE:CMI) announced a Zone 2 certified QSM diesel engine for offshore and hazardous environment applications. With the release of this new QSM in the fourth quarter of 2004, Cummins extends its product line for the oil and gas market.

The 500-horsepower, 11-liter QSM features electronic controls that meet ATEX 94/9/EC Group II, Category 3G and also delivers International Maritime Organization (IMO) Tier 2 Marine and Tier 2 Mobile Off-Highway emissions capability. The QSM for Zone 2 is available with a water-cooled exhaust gas heat exchanger as well as intake and exhaust spark arrestors which are critical components in engines designed for use in hazardous locations.
